Network attached storage (NAS) devices are easily expandable and secure data storage devices. They usually feature multiple drives, RAID protection options and hot-swap capabilities for reducing down time should drive failure occur. Software-powered features vary depending on the operating system included, and the processor and memory onboard, but may include automated backups, remote access, VPN, encryption, snapshots and advanced RAID configurations.
